What Happens in Heaven

This is one of the nicest mails I have seen and is so true:

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.

My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received."

I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.

The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them."

I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed "How is it that? There's no work going on here?" I asked.

"So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments.

"How does one acknowledge God's blessings?" I asked.

"Simple," the angel answered. "Just say, "Thank you, Lord."

"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.

"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. "If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity."
Also .....

"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness .... you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day.

"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation .. you are ahead of 700 million people in the world.

"If you can attend a church meeting without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world.

"If your parents are still alive and still married .. you are very rare.

If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you're unique to all those in doubt and despair."

Ok, what now? How can I start?

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you want, pass this along to remind everyone else how
blessed we all are.

Attn: Acknowledge Dept.: Thank You Lord! "Thank you Lord, for giving me the ability to share this message and for giving me so many wonderful people to share it with".

Robber convicted by God's Divine Intervention

A man suspected of robbing an Indianapolis check cashing store removed the bullet from his gun after the clerk talked about God and prayed with him, police said.

The man, Gregory L. Smith of Indianapolis, turned himself in to police a few hours after he allegedly held up the Advance America check cashing store Monday.

Police responding to the store around 4:20 p.m. were told that it had just been robbed.

Smith, 23, initially entered the establishment to apply for a loan, then left to get identification that clerk Angela Montez requested, officials said.

But Smith returned and allegedly pointed a gun at the woman. He then told her that times were hard, he had a son to feed and "he had no choice," according to the report of the incident from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

But when Montez, 43, started to talk to the alleged robber about God, Smith began to tell her about his hardships and asked her to pray with him, the report said.

"I started crying and praying and telling him, 'Don't do this,' he was too young to throw away his life," Montez said on a 911 call to police.

The incident took an even more surprising turn when Smith removed the bullet from his gun and gave it to Montez, police said.

"He took the bullet out of the gun and said, 'Here, I'm not going to hurt you, I'm not going to hurt you,'" Montez said on the 911 call.

After they talked, Smith asked Montez for a hug and asked her not to report him, then told her to go into the restroom and not come out for 20 minutes, police said.

Police said Smith took $20 from the cash drawer, leaving the rest of the money behind, and Montez's cell phone from her purse. He turned himself in later that night. His mother had seen surveillance video of the incident on a newscast and urged her son to turn himself in. Lt. Jeff Duhammell of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said Montez did well.

"How people react, we just don't know until they're faced with it," he said. "She did an extremely good job, and should be commended for her actions."

Smith was arrested on robbery and firearm charges.

Hours after an Indianapolis store clerk said divine intervention helped her convince a would-be thief to give up mid-heist, the alleged robber agreed that God played a major role in his dramatic change of heart.

"It had to be God working through her because she just talked to me like a mother or a grandmother to her child, and she made me feel comfortable," robbery suspect Gregory Smith, 23, said in an emotional jailhouse interview with ABC News' Indianapolis affiliate WRTV Thursday. "I started telling her stuff I hadn't even told my own mother. I even tried to give her the gun, she wouldn't take it.

"To everybody who I've affected with this, I just want to say I'm sorry for putting you all through this," he said.

Store clerk Angela Montez said Thursday it was divine intervention that led Smith to give up his heist and talk and pray with her for nearly 40 minutes Monday before turning himself in to Indianapolis police hours later.

"I believe the Lord sent us both together," Montez told "Good Morning America" Thursday in an exclusive interview. "The more we talked, he just broke down. ... He said, 'Talk to me. No one will talk to me. I have nobody.'"

Surveillance cameras recorded video of an armed man, alleged to be Smith of Indianapolis, jumping over the counter at a check cashing store where Montez worked and pointing a gun at her Monday. Montez, fearing for her life, broke down, crying and praying.

"I can't even explain the feeling of a gun," she said. "I remember looking at the silver gun, and the finger was on the trigger. I thought, 'This is it.'"

But after seeing how much he was scaring her, Montez said Smith apologized and tried to explain himself.

"I told him, 'Don't do this. You're young. Don't do this to jeopardize your life,'" she said, echoing the report she gave to a 911 dispatcher after the alleged robbery. "He started crying, 'But we're going to be homeless. I haven't had a job in months. I've tried everything.'"

Smith told Montez, 43, he was an ex-serviceman and had a young baby. He said he didn't know where his mother was at the time and had never known his father.

At one point, Smith reached for the gun again, which scared Montez into praying for her own forgiveness before what she thought was her death, but Smith took out the only bullet in the gun and gave it to her, Montez said.

"Just take it and talk to me," Smith said, according to Montez.

The unlikely pair talked for nearly 40 without being interrupted by anyone else entering the store or any phone calls -- a sign, Montez said, that God wanted them to talk.

"I felt a warmness, even though there was a scare," she said. "There are so many places around us. No one had come to the door. No one called. I can't believe it was that long, when I was told how long we talked."

Natural Antiseptic Herbs

Natural Antiseptics that can easily be found in our kitchen.

Thousands of plants have antiseptic value, and many have active antibiotic ingredients. For home and outdoors, use the following herbs and recipes.

Cabbage White
cabbage leaves contain rapine, an antibiotic active against some fungi. White cabbage leaves have an affinity for pus or ulcers to absorb pus. Break down the large thread veins, warm the leaves, and place them on the sore. Replace when warm.

Carrot
Boil carrots, mash them, and apply them to sores to extract pus and heal the area. Carrots are a very strong antiseptic.

Cinnamon Bark

Cinnamon bark contains an active fragrant, volatile, antigermicidal oil. Use the bark in mouthwashes, gargles, combinations of herbal teas for taste and antiseptic ability.

Clove

Clove oil, like cinnamon bark oil, is a strong germicide; both are considered more powerful than carbolic acid. Use bruised cloves in teas and externally to deaden skin pain.

(Sweet) Clover

These attractive 'wayside weeds contain a broad spectrum antibiotic. Creosote (Bush) This plant contains nordihydroguaiaretic acid, an antibiotic active against skin bacteria,

(Red) Currant

Heat the juice of the red currant over a slow fire for an old fashioned dessert, "Rob," or as the ancient English remedy for sore throat. Red currant jelly may be added to peppermint or ginger tea as an anti sore throat aid.

Garlic

Extracts of garlic buds contain allicin, a powerful antibacterial agent. In Russia during World War 11, in the absence of penicillin and other antibiotics, the Russians used garlic powder on wounds. For a tasty anticold remedy, combine finely cut beefsteak tomatoes, red onions, mashed garlic buds, vegetable oil, and lemon juice. Eat as much as you can stand.

Ginger
Wild ginger contains a broad spectrum antibiotic active against bacteria and fungi. Ginger root or ginger powder added to herbal drinks at the onset of a cold causes perspiration and alleviates cold symptoms. Do not use in great amounts. Use a small amount in bathwater, too.

Goldenseal

The root of goldenseal contains berberine, an antibiotic with broad spectrum antibacteria and antiprotozoa activity. Goldenseal is especially useful for mouth and gum problems. Use the powder of the root directly on canker sores, or combine it with tincture of myrrh and water or sherry for a healing mouthwash.

Horseradish

There is an active antibiotic in the horseradish root. Note the various apple cider vinegar and horseradish recipes and drinks, particularly for sinus problems, in Section Three. juniper The berries have many uses in home herbal care. They contain an antibiotic.

Onions

Onions have always been known to have antibac terial action. Since cut onions easily absorb bacteria, they can be used in a sickroom for this purpose. However, note that this also means that in average home use cut onions should always be completely covered and kept in the refrigerator. See also anticold salad (Garlic) above. Onion broth is restorative. Roasted onion may be used as an effective poultice. To reduce the aftertaste of raw onions, note recipe under internal use Onions.

Radish
One old English folk remedy for boils utilized placement of a slice of radish on the boil. Do not eat wild radish seeds.

Sage

Add sage leaves to tea or gargles for sore throat and other antiseptic action. Steep 2 tablespoons in a pint of boiling water for seven to ten minutes. Sage may be bitter if allowed to steep too long in boiling water.

Thyme

The oil extracted from fresh thyme is complex and contains thymol, which is an exceptionally antiseptic substance similar in antiseptic action to carbolic acid. Thymol may be used in miniscule amounts (one part to a thousand of water) for the dressing of wounds. It is successful even when iodine or other such antiseptics have proved unsuccessful. Though not as potent as the oil, garden thyme can be crushed, added to boiling water, steeped, then strained, and used for baths, compresses, and directly on the body for sprains and bruises.

Strong Earthquake hits Jakarta Indonesia

16 Oct 2009

JAKARTA (BNO NEWS) — A strong earthquake rocked the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Friday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

The earthquake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 or 6.5, struck around 4.53 p.m. local time. There was no immediate word on damage or casualties from the tremor which struck about 116 miles west-southwest of Jakarta.

The United States Geological Survey reported the earthquake as a preliminary 6.5-magnitude, while the country’s seismological agency reported it as a 6.4-magnitude. The epicenter was located about 34 miles deep, making it a shallow earthquake. Shallow earthquakes often tend to cause more damage, and increase the risk of a tsunami.

Witnesses in the capital reported feeling strong tremors. No tsunami warnings were issued.

Overcoming Barriers in Communication

Part 1 of 2

We all know that good communication is key for a successful marriage. But good communication doesn't always come easily. So, for the next two weeks let's examine how to overcome the barriers in communication. This week we will tackle the two very important issues: the silent spouse and valid anger.

The Silent Spouse:

So your spouse is the silent type. This can make communication very difficult. But are you spurring on this behavior? Let me give you some suggestions.

1. Stop saying "I wish you'd talk more." This is condemning and does not stimulate conversation.

2. Ask specific questions. "How was your day?" is much too general. "What did you have for lunch today?" is much better. Start with soliciting facts, later you can move to feelings.

3. Check your own output. If you are talking too much, your spouse will never talk more. Did you hear about the little boy who asked his father for help in writing a paper on "garden Clubs"? His father said: "Son, I don't know anything about Garden Clubs, go ask your mother." To which the little boy responded, "Dad, I don't want to know that much."

4. Replace criticisms with compliments. "John, I really appreciate you taking out the garbage." Is much better than "About time you took the garbage out, the flies were going to carry it out for you." Compliments encourage talking. Criticism closes the door.

Valid Anger:

Valid anger grows out of a concern for right, but much of our anger comes from a self-centered heart. Our spouse rubbed us the wrong way, or we didn't get what we wanted, so we got angry. This is distorted anger and reveals our own selfish attitude. So we sulk, and withdraw in silence, or we lash out with hurtful words.

A lady said to me recently, "My husband gets mad about the least little thing. I can't talk to him because I'm afraid I will say something that will trip his anger." On the other hand, he complained, "She never wants to spend any time with me." Hey guys Wake Up. If she is running from you, there is a reason.

Why not sit down and say, "I know I'm not a perfect husband, but I want to improve. Can you tell me what bothers you most about my behavior?" Then hold on to your chair and listen. When she says, "Your angry outburst really hurt me." Believe her, and ask for her advice on how you can manage your anger. Having lived with you, she has read the books and will have some good advice.

A husband said to me: "My wife is so fragile emotionally; I don't want to hurt her, so I keep all my feelings inside, but sometimes I feel like I'm going to explode." Do you think this husband is doing his wife a favor? I think he's destroying his marriage. The Bible says that we are to speak the truth in love. Both of these are important: speak the truth and do it in a loving way.

Remember love edifies. Love builds up. Love seeks to do what is best for the other person. Holding your frustrations, hurts, and pain inside is not for the good of your mate or your marriage. In fact, it is extremely unfair. Your spouse cannot respond to your pain if they are not aware of it.

You might say: "Darling I love you very much and I realize that I have wronged you by not sharing this with you sooner. I didn't want to hurt you, but that's no excuse. Please hear me; I'm not trying to put you down. I'm trying to let you know how I feel." Then tell the truth. Now your spouse has a chance to help. You might be surprised at their response.

US Navy Ship built with WTC 9/11 Wreckage

A warship built with steel salvaged from the wreckage of the World Trade Centre set sail for New York on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people lined the banks of the Mississippi river near New Orleans as the USS New York sailed through the fog, local media reports.

Its bow stem contains 7.5 tons of steel salvaged from the rubble following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

"That steel means a whole lot more than just metal," Ronnie Harris, mayor of nearby Gretna, Louisiana told the local Fox News station amid a swell of patriot music.

"The entire country comes together in the form of that bow stem and I'm so proud that this event puts it in the history books and in people's minds."

The 208-metre long ship's main mission is to transport and deploy combat and support elements of Marine expeditionary units, the US Navy said.

It will carry approximately 720 troops and can deploy helicopters and other aircraft from its massive deck.

Two other ships - the Arlington and Somerset - are being built in honour of the victims of the attacks on the Pentagon and United Flight 93 and are also incorporating materials salvaged from those sites.

Scary Overly Skinny Fashion Model

This picture has sparked a controversial over blogspere, fashion Ralph Lauren is taking action against the blogger over this image. This picture has been seriously distorted it makes the model's head looking bigger than her pelvis.
For this case it probably caused by the overly photoshoped image, but in real world there are many out there who are seriously obsessed by the weight lost.
Many female thought overly skinny = pretty, or makes them look like model, this is actually a form of mental sickness, this type of people usually will fall into the eating disorder sickness "Anorexia nervosa".
Many have forgotten the natural beauty, curvy woman is much much more pretty and attractive compare to the skeleton like woman.
For those who are born skinny, i have got nothing again you all, that is nothing much can be done, what i am referring to is those over obsessed by the weight.
Read more on Anorexia nervosa's symptom

The picture was from the blog photoshopdisaster.blogspot.com but had been disabled by Blogger due to the legal warning of copyright infringement by Ralph Lauren. Another blog Boing Boing also received the legal warning but he refused to remove the picture. "Instead of responding to their legal threat by suppressing our criticism of their marketing images, we're gonna mock them," Boing Boing editor Cory Doctorow wrote in a blog post Tuesday. "So, to Ralph Lauren, GreenbergTraurig, and PRL Holdings, Inc: sue and be damned. Copyright law doesn't give you the right to threaten your critics for pointing out the problems with your offerings. You should know better. And every time you threaten to sue us over stuff like this, we will:
  • a) Reproduce the original criticism, making damned sure that all our readers get a good, long look at it, and;
  • b) Publish your spurious legal threat along with copious mockery, so that it becomes highly ranked in search engines where other people you threaten can find it and take heart; and
  • c) Offer nourishing soup and sandwiches to your models."

In a statement, Ralph Lauren acknowledged that the image had been doctored. "

Stephanie Birkitt wrote lust letters to David Letterman

Perky "Late Show" staffer Stephanie Birkitt wrote David Letterman "trashy" love letters that will embarrass them both when they become public, sources said Tuesday.

"It's her musings about them," a source who perused Birkitt's purple prose told the Daily News. "It's trash."

Birkitt's letters - none of which was mailed - are steamy, but far from kinky.

"We're not talking crazy sexual escapades," the source said.

Still, they leave no doubt Birkitt was more than just Letterman's "Girl Friday" on the show.

"It's clear she's having a sexual relationship with Letterman," another source familiar with the probe told The News.

Birkitt's angry ex-boyfriend, Robert (Joe) Halderman, delivered at least one of her "Dear Dave" letters to the philandering funnyman as part of what prosecutors call a $2 million shakedown plot.

Halderman, who has been suspended from his producer's job at "48 Hours," is charged with threatening to ruin Letterman's reputation by revealing that he slept with staffers.

Birkitt moved into Halderman's house in Norwalk, Conn., four years ago, after his bitter April 2004 divorce from the mother of his two kids.

It was not clear when Birkitt wrote the letters. Halderman began to suspect his girlfriend was sleeping with her boss at the end of 2007, the sources said.

Halderman, 51, grew more suspicious the next year when Letterman, who also lives in Connecticut, began driving out of his way to drop Birkitt off after some shows, the sources said.

The accused blackmailer's worst fears were confirmed at the end of last year when he found Birkitt's letters - and demanded to know if she was sleeping with Letterman, sources said.

Birkitt, 34, soon moved out.

Halderman had little to say when reporters confronted him yesterday outside his house.

"I know you have a job to do. I might as well make it easy on you guys," he said.

When they asked Halderman how he was holding up, he replied, "It's a beautiful day ... I have some errands to run."

Then he split.

Letterman steered clear of the painful subject at the taping of Tuesday's show, although he joked that he could use an understudy and introduced a man wearing sunglasses who looked a bit like him.

"There are quite a variety of reasons of why I might need one," he said.

A day earlier, Letterman apologized on the "Late Show" to his wife, Regina Lasko, and to his female staffers, for dragging them into the swirling sex scandal.

Letterman, 62, also announced he was desperately trying to save his marriage. "Let me tell you folks: I've got my work cut out for me," he said.

It was Letterman's first taping of the show since he revealed that he had been targeted by a blackmailer - and admitted bedding female underlings.

BANANAS with dark patches on yellow skin - the goodness

The Goodness of Bananas with dark patches on yellow skin

The fully ripe banana produces a substance called TNF which has the ability to combat abnormal cells.

So don't be surprised very soon the shop will go out of stock for bananas.

As the banana ripens, it develops dark spots or patches on the skin. The more dark patches it has, the higher will be its' immunity enhancement quality.

Hence the Japanese love bananas for a good reason.

According to a Japanese scientific research, banana contains TNF which has anti-cancer properties. The degree of anti-cancer effect corresponds to the degree of ripeness of the fruit, ie the riper the banana, the better the anti-cancer quality.

In an animal experiment carried out by a professor in Tokyo U comparing the various health benefits of different fruits, using banana, grape, apple, water melon, pineapple, pear and persimmon, it was found that banana gave the best results. It increased the number of white blood cells, enhanced the immunity of the body and produced anti-cancer substance TNF.

The recommendation is to eat 1 to 2 banana a day to increase your body immunity to diseases like cold, flu and others.

According to the Japanese professor, yellow skin bananas with dark spots on it are 8 times more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells than the green skin version.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

William Kamkwamba dreamed of powering his village with the only resource that was freely available to him.
His native Malawi had gone through one of its worst droughts seven years ago, killing thousands. His family and others were surviving on one meal a day. The red soil in his Masitala hometown was parched, leaving his father, a farmer, without any income.

But amid all the shortages, one thing was still abundant. Wind.

"I wanted to do something to help and change things," he said. "Then I said to myself, 'If they can make electricity out of wind, I can try, too.'"

Kamkwamba was kicked out of school when he couldn't pay $80 in school fees, and he spent his days at the library, where a book with photographs of windmills caught his eye.

"I thought, this thing exists in this book, it means someone else managed to build this machine," he said.

Armed with the book, the then-14-year-old taught himself to build windmills. He scoured through junkyards for items, including bicycle parts, plastic pipes, tractor fans and car batteries. For the tower, he collected wood from blue-gum trees.

"Everyone laughed at me when I told them I was building a windmill. They thought I was crazy," he said. "Then I started telling them I was just playing with the parts. That sounded more normal."
That was 2002. Now, he has five windmills, the tallest at 37 feet. He built one at an area school that he used to teach classes on windmill-building.

The windmills generate electricity and pump water in his hometown, north of the capital, Lilongwe. Neighbors regularly trek across the dusty footpaths to his house to charge their cellphones. Others stop by to listen to Malawian reggae music blaring from a radio.

When he started building the first windmill in 2002, word that he was "crazy" spread all over his village. Some people said he was bewitched -- a common description for people with perplexing behavior in some African cultures.

"All of us, even my mother, thought that he had gone mad," said his sister Doris Kamkwamba.

Villagers would surround him to snicker and point, Kamkwamba said. Ignoring them, he would quietly bolt pieces using a screwdriver made of a heated nail attached to a corncob. The heat -- from both the crowd and the melted, flattened pipes he used as blades -- did not deter him.

Three months later, his first windmill churned to life as relief swept over him. As the blades whirled, a bulb attached to the windmill flickered on.

"I wanted to finish it just to prove them wrong," he said. "I knew people would then stop thinking I was crazy."

Kamkwamba, now 22, is a student at the African Leadership Academy, an elite South African school for young leaders. Donors pay for his education.

His story has turned him into a globetrotter. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, an avid advocate of green living, has applauded his work. Kamkwamba is invited to events worldwide to share his experience with entrepreneurs. During a recent trip to Palm Springs, California, he saw a real windmill for the first time -- lofty and majestic -- a far cry from the wobbly, wooden structures that spin in his backyard.

Former Associated Press correspondent Bryan Mealer, who covered Africa, wrote a book, "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind," after hearing Kamkwamba's story. The book was released in the United States last week.

Mealer, a native of San Antonio, Texas, said he lived with Kamkwamba in his village for months to write the book. The story was a refreshing change after years of covering bloody conflicts in the region, Mealer said.

Kamkwamba is part of a generation of Africans who are not waiting for their governments or aid groups to come to their rescue, according to the author.

"They are seizing opportunities and technology, and finding solutions to their own problems," Mealer said. "One of the keys of his success is ... he's never wanted to rest on his laurels."

Rio de Janeiro beat out Chicago, Tokyo and Madrid to become the first South American city to host the Games, something President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva made clear during his pitch to the International Olympic Committee.

"It is a time to address this imbalance," he told committee members making the selection in Copenhagen, Denmark. "It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country."
