Okapi - The Unicorn like Exotic animal in Africa

Some photos of Okapi have been captured by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) for the first time in Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The conventional way of doing survey on Okapi was only through the droppings and other signs of their presence as this type of animal is shy and rare.

The okapi, which have a black, giraffe-like tongue and zebra-like stripes on their behind, were last spotted in the Virunga National Park nearly 50 years ago on the west bank of the Semliki River.

Okapi has a dark long tongue that is long enough to clean its eyes and ears!
